Maven AGI is seeking a Senior Accounting & Finance Manager to build and scale the finance function as the company grows. Maven is an AI-powered customer service automation platform founded in 2023 by executives from HubSpot, Google, and Stripe. The company builds conversational AI agents that autonomously resolve customer issues, with customers including Dell, ServPro, HardRock, Tripadvisor, Clio, and Thumbtack reporting 70–93% autonomous resolution rates.
This is a hands-on, individual contributor role reporting directly to the VP of Finance. You will own core accounting operations and the monthly close end-to-end, partnering with an outsourced bookkeeping team to deliver timely and accurate financial statements. Key responsibilities include managing AP, AR, payroll, collections, and reconciliations; owning revenue recognition including ASC 606 compliance for SaaS contracts; overseeing accounts payable through Ramp; managing accounts receivable and collections; coordinating payroll and benefits; establishing accounting policies and internal controls; building audit-ready documentation for Maven's first financial statement audit; managing SaaS sales tax and nexus compliance; identifying opportunities to automate finance workflows; and partnering on budgeting, forecasting, cash management, SaaS metrics, and investor/board reporting.
You should have 4–6 years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience with strong hands-on accounting fundamentals. Experience owning or significantly contributing to monthly close and financial reporting is essential. You need a strong understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll, and internal controls. Public accounting experience, ideally Big Four audit, is strongly preferred. Startup or high-growth technology company experience is preferred, though strong public accounting candidates transitioning to operating roles are welcome. SaaS experience is a plus, particularly exposure to ASC 606, deferred revenue, and SaaS metrics. You should be comfortable managing outsourced partners, researching technical accounting questions, and operating pragmatically in a fast-moving startup. CPA certification or progress toward it is a plus. This is a foundational hire on Maven's internal finance team with significant ownership, exposure to company leadership, and the opportunity to help build a finance function from the ground up at a fast-moving AI company.
