Thumbtack is seeking a Senior Accounting Associate specializing in Accounts Payable to join its growing Accounting team. This remote role, based in the Philippines with Pacific Time working hours (9 AM–6 PM PT), positions you as the primary owner of all accounts payable and employee reimbursement activities for Thumbtack globally. You will manage the full cycle of accounts payable operations, including receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices for Thumbtack's US, Canada, and Philippines entities. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate payment processing in compliance with company policies, reconciling vendor statements, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating with departments to gather necessary approvals and documentation. You will own the employee expense report processing tool, managing reviews, approvals, accruals, and reconciliations. Additional duties include assisting with prepaid preparation and monthly amortization, supporting month-end and year-end close processes (bank matching, AP accruals, reconciliations per US GAAP), and identifying process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. As the finance function scales, you will partner on systems changes—evaluating, testing, and implementing new tools such as NetSuite, Coupa, and Navan—and take on adjacent areas of ownership. You will support audit requests and complete ad hoc projects as needed. Required qualifications: at least 5 years of solid accounting experience with a focus on Accounts Payable; Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field; strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting; exceptional attention to detail; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and manage time effectively; critical thinking; and adaptability to shifting priorities and new systems. Preferred qualifications include CPA license, proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, Coupa, GSuite, Navan), experience with accounts payable in a shared service entity, experience with AI tools, and experience with system implementations.
