Pilot is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting team in San Francisco (hybrid, 3 days/week in office). Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, you will own critical components of the monthly close process, financial reporting, annual audits, and equity accounting while driving process automation and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses for assigned general ledger areas (fixed assets, prepaids, leases, accruals, intercompany); owning the equity roll-forward and stock-based compensation accounting (ASC 718) in partnership with Legal, HR, and Carta; preparing supporting schedules and footnotes for audited financial statements; serving as the primary contact for external auditors within your areas; identifying and implementing process automation improvements; and mentoring staff accountants as the team scales. You will partner cross-functionally with Revenue, Payroll, AP/AR, FP&A, and IT teams. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a passion for automation and scalable processes, and is positioned to develop into an Accounting Manager within a few years. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred or in progress); 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at a high-growth SaaS company; 2–4 years of Big Four experience strongly preferred; strong U.S. GAAP knowledge including equity accounting, ASC 350-40, and ASC 842; experience with QuickBooks Online, Carta, and FloQast or BlackLine; advanced Excel skills and comfort with AI/automation tools. Preferred: NetSuite ERP experience, participation in ERP implementations or financial systems transformations, ASC 606 revenue recognition exposure, and IPO readiness or SOX experience. Pilot, founded in 2017, modernizes the back office by providing small businesses with dedicated finance experts and integrating with their existing billing, banking, expense, and payroll systems. The company has 3,000+ customers, raised $170M+ from top-tier investors (Sequoia, Index Ventures, Stripe, Bezos Expeditions, Whale Rock), and recently achieved unicorn status at $1.2B valuation.
