Pilot is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting team, reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager. This role is central to the company's monthly close process, financial reporting, annual audit, equity accounting, and process improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include owning assigned general ledger accounts (fixed assets, prepaids, leases, accruals, intercompany activity) and ensuring timely, accurate monthly reconciliations. You'll prepare and review journal entries, perform balance sheet and income statement analyses, and investigate significant variances. The role encompasses equity accounting—managing equity roll-forward schedules, stock option accounting, and monthly stock-based compensation under ASC 718, working closely with Legal, HR, and equity administrators. You'll prepare the company's annual audited financial statements with all required footnotes and supporting disclosures, maintain accounting policies and technical documentation, and research complex accounting matters. During external audits, you'll serve as the primary contact for assigned areas, prepare audit schedules, and support SOX readiness initiatives. Process improvement is a core focus: you'll identify automation opportunities, streamline close workflows, assist with ERP implementations, and recommend enhancements that strengthen internal controls and scalability. You'll partner cross-functionally with Revenue Accounting, Payroll, AP, AR, FP&A, HR, Legal, RevOps, and IT on financial activities, due diligence, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives. As the GL team grows, you'll mentor staff accountants and support onboarding. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a passion for automation and operational excellence, and is positioned to develop into an Accounting Manager within a few years. The role is hybrid: 3 days per week in office (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) in San Francisco. Required: Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience at high-growth SaaS companies; strong U.S. GAAP knowledge; experience with external audits, audited financial statements, equity accounting (ASC 718), lease accounting (ASC 842), and capitalized internal-use software (ASC 350-40). Preferred: CPA or active pursuit of CPA; 2–4 years Big Four public accounting; experience with Carta, QuickBooks Online, FloQast/BlackLine, NetSuite ERP, and AI/automation tools. Advanced Excel skills required.
