Coinbase is seeking a Senior Accountant to own core accounting, close, controls, and regulatory reporting for its registered Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and Broker-Dealer entities. This role sits within the Finance team's Accounting - Books & Records group and provides the financial foundation for Coinbase's expanding brokerage and derivatives businesses. Key responsibilities include owning the monthly close for FCM and Broker-Dealer entities (journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, quarterly and annual reporting); preparing accurate and timely regulatory reporting for the CFTC, NFA, and other regulators while monitoring capital and liquidity requirements daily; leading coordination of internal and external audits with cross-functional stakeholder alignment; designing, executing, and continuously improving internal controls over accounting, regulatory reporting, and compliance processes; partnering with cross-functional teams on new product launches to ensure accounting and regulatory readiness; and identifying opportunities to automate and scale accounting operations through technology and process improvement. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of experience in public accounting, industry accounting, or a combination; an active CPA license and bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; direct experience with regulatory reporting and compliance in FINRA, SEC, CFTC, or NFA environments; demonstrated ability to translate complex business activity into sound accounting processes and communicate technical issues clearly; proven track record managing multiple concurrent priorities across audit, close, and reporting cycles under regulatory deadlines; availability to work Eastern Time hours to support daily regulatory filing deadlines; and responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality. Coinbase is a remote-first but not remote-only company, with quarterly in-person working sessions called "surges." The company is building the most trusted and comprehensive platform for institutions to participate in the crypto economy, with a mission to increase economic freedom in the world.
