Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for global connectivity, protection, and deep-space exploration. The Senior Accountant will be based on-site at Rocket Lab's global headquarters in Long Beach, CA, and will oversee and manage key accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records and timely preparation of financial reports.
Key responsibilities include managing month-end and year-end closing processes with GAAP compliance, reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly, and maintaining the fixed asset register with accurate capitalization, depreciation, and disposal entries. The role involves preparing and reviewing trial balances and supporting schedules for financial reporting, monitoring accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections, and analyzing financial data for variance and flux reporting.
Additional duties include assisting with monthly cash forecasting, supporting internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries, acting as a resource for team members on complex accounting issues, and coordinating with AR and other departmental functions for sales order entry.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 9+ years of total work experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP is essential, along with proficiency in accounting software (Infor Syteline, LN, CostPoint Deltek) and advanced Excel skills. The role requires excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, strong attention to detail, effective cross-team collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
