Salary: USD 90,000 - 110,000 / annual

OpenGov is seeking a Senior Accountant to own various general ledger accounting process areas within monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. This role reports to the Accounting Manager and operates as a trusted subject matter expert working cross-functionally across the organization. Key responsibilities include: - Own day-to-day accounting for multiple GL accounts including accruals, fixed assets, leases, prepaids, and intangibles, including journal entry recording, reconciliations, and supporting analyses - Execute key aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, completing financial reporting deliverables such as balance sheet reconciliations and income statement variance analysis - Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures to support close requirements and business scaling, including researching technical accounting guidance - Partner cross-functionally with FP&A and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting - Provide financial insights and reporting to internal stakeholders and prepare support for external audits - Independently identify, champion, and implement process improvements and automation initiatives - Serve as a key accounting resource on acquisition integration activities as the company continues M&A growth Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in public accounting or high-growth SaaS/technology environment - Solid command of US GAAP, financial statements, and reporting requirements - Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and strong Excel skills - Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills - Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Preferred qualifications include experience with accruals, fixed assets, partner fees, leases, and prepaids, as well as CPA license or active CPA candidacy. The role is based in the Chicago office, required four days per week on-site, and offers meaningful exposure to senior finance leadership.
