This hands-on role manages payroll, bonus, commission, benefits, insurance, and severance accounting across the full cycle—from journal entries and accruals through reconciliation, variance analysis, and audit support. Key responsibilities include partnering with Payroll to record each payroll cycle and reconcile wages, employer taxes, and withholdings; preparing and maintaining accruals for annual and performance bonuses, spot bonuses, referral and sign-on bonuses, and compensated absences; owning the commission accounting cycle including accruals, capitalization and amortization of incremental contract costs under ASC 340-40, clawbacks, and reconciliation to commission plan calculations; accounting for severance and termination benefits; and managing benefits and insurance accounting including self-insured medical claims, IBNR accruals, stop-loss premiums, 401(k) employer match, HSA/FSA, COBRA, and workers' compensation.
You will reconcile headcount and compensation data across HRIS, payroll platform, and general ledger; partner with HR/People and FP&A on compensation and headcount variance analysis; review vendor onboarding and AP transactions; perform monthly bank reconciliations; support month-end close activities; conduct ad-hoc financial and operational analytics; leverage AI tools to automate recurring workflows; support payroll and HRIS implementations; and assist with process optimization and SOX-ready internal control enhancements.
