Branch is an insurance technology company reimagining auto insurance through data, automation, and transparency. This Senior Accountant role blends traditional accounting expertise with hands-on AI implementation—approximately 70-80% core accounting work and 20-30% AI-driven process automation.
Core accounting responsibilities include owning month-end close, reconciliations, investment accounting, state compliance filings, and regulatory reporting. You'll support an expanding portfolio of insurance programs, standardizing processes across them while maintaining GAAP, statutory, and regulatory compliance.
The AI and automation component is central to the role. You will identify recurring manual accounting work suitable for automation, map current processes, prototype AI-enabled alternatives, and lead implementation. Critically, you'll hand off every automation you build to the team member who runs it monthly, providing documentation and training so they can own the process independently. This multiplies team velocity across the entire finance organization, not just your corner.
You'll evaluate and pilot AI tools for the accounting team, ensure AI-enabled processes maintain proper controls and compliance, and keep the team's AI work aligned with Branch's enterprise AI standards and governance. Investment accounting workflows are a particular focus for AI-driven improvements in data quality and turnaround time.
Branch is remote-first; hybrid work from the Concordia, Missouri office is available if you're local. The company has a preference for Ohio-based candidates but is open to applicants in multiple states (AZ, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, NV, NC, OH, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, WI). Full-time employment authorization in the US is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
