Anthropic is seeking a Sanctions Compliance Lead to take day-to-day leadership of the company's sanctions compliance program and support oversight of export controls. This is a senior leadership role within the Integrity & Compliance function, responsible for building and scaling compliance systems as Anthropic's AI products reach more people, enterprises, and regulated industries.
You will own the sanctions program end-to-end: setting strategy and risk appetite with leadership, continuously assessing risk across products and channels, governing screening and enforcement controls, directing regulator-facing matters, and reporting on program health to I&C leadership and the Audit Committee. Key responsibilities include leading sanctions compliance strategy and policy frameworks; representing the function with senior leadership and cross-functional partners; assessing sanctions risk across products, channels, and markets; directing regulator-facing matters including voluntary self-disclosures and licensing questions; governing restricted-party screening and enforcement controls; serving as the senior escalation point for complex sanctions matters; advising business and product teams on sanctions implications of expansion, new products, partnerships, and acquisitions; supporting oversight of the export controls program; preparing program reporting for governance forums; monitoring regulatory developments and enforcement actions; and leading and developing compliance team members.
This is a builder's role at a company that takes integrity seriously and moves fast. You will exercise independent judgment on issues without clear precedent and build durable programs that let Anthropic move quickly while honoring its obligations to regulators, customers, and the public. The role requires substantive, hands-on experience leading an economic sanctions compliance program in a commercial environment, including program design, policy ownership, and risk governance.
