Salary: USD 140,000 - 190,000 / annual
Meter is building modern networking infrastructure for enterprise customers like Lyft and Reddit. As an Enterprise Sales Engineer, you will partner with the sales team to bring better networks to more customers by leveraging your technical expertise to influence IT and network engineers.
You will be part of an early team of Enterprise Sales Engineers building the technical engine to compete against legacy vendors in a large industry that has not seen a successful new entrant in decades.
SUCCESS METRICS
In your first weeks, you'll build relationships with Sales reps, Sales leaders, peer Sales Engineers, product teams, and customer deployment teams. You'll establish yourself as a trusted advisor internally and become a Subject Matter Expert across routing, switching, wireless, and security across the Meter portfolio.
You'll quickly join sales calls and contribute to $1M+ in committed quarterly Enterprise revenue by leading technical discovery calls and designing solutions that help close deals. As you gain exposure, you'll help build process and structure for the Sales Engineering team—designing assets for common Enterprise use cases (e.g., EVPN-VXLAN reference architectures, 802.1X integration guides) and standardizing documentation and training. This will accelerate deal cycles by at least a week and increase win rates.
With demonstrated success, you'll have a clear path to Principal Sales Engineer, vertical specialization, or leadership—either specializing in strategic accounts or hiring and mentoring the next cohort of Sales Engineers.
DAY-TO-DAY
Approximately 60% of your time will be spent on deal execution: leading technical discovery calls, delivering demonstrations to multiple stakeholders (office managers to CIOs), building solutions, removing obstacles, and partnering with Account Executives to drive deals forward.
25% will be spent building assets and standards—creating internal training, designing sales assets, and standardizing approaches to complex technical use cases.
15% will be spent on product translation—collecting customer feedback from deployments and translating requirements to the Product team to influence hardware and software roadmaps.
WHO YOU ARE
You are an elite Sales Engineer who understands that enterprise networking is complex, rigid, and ripe for disruption. You're tired of selling marginal upgrades on legacy infrastructure and want to be at the forefront of innovation. You've had success as a high-performing SE at high-growth companies and want your voice heard and your influence felt on company trajectory. You're obsessed with networking, hate losing, and come up with creative solutions to remove roadblocks.
REQUIREMENTS
Expert knowledge required in: TCP/IP, 802.11ax/be, TLS, DHCP, DNS, NAT, 802.1X, VPNs, SD-WAN, IDS/IPS, Multicast, OSPF, BGP, and EVPN-VXLAN. Industry certifications strongly preferred, including any of: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CWNA, CWDP, CWSP, CWDE, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIE, Network+, or Security+.
