Faire is a technology wholesale platform connecting independent retailers globally with suppliers. The Brand Partnerships team brings sought-after brands onto the platform, and the technical sale—ensuring clean data flow between brand systems and Faire—is critical to success.
As Sales Engineer, you'll be the technical counterpart to Enterprise Account Executives across North America and Europe. You'll own the technical win from first discovery through integration go-live, pairing deep integration knowledge with sales instincts to bring integration into every deal earlier.
Key responsibilities:
**Qualify for technical feasibility early.** Run technical discovery from the first call, mapping the brand's stack (commerce platform, ERP, WMS/3PL, shipping tools, EDI/middleware). Identify the source of truth for catalog, inventory, and orders. Tell AEs and leadership which deals are worth prioritizing, what's feasible, and where risk sits. Flag early when a brand's technical team can't match deal pace.
**Build the business case.** Show brands why integrating beats manual management. Lay out timeline, total cost (including middleware fees against margin), and weekly operational hours saved in terms a CFO and operations lead can sign off on.
**Design the solution.** Recommend the right path for each brand: native app (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop), middleware/EDI partner, or custom API build. Weigh the brand's ERP, shipping model, and IT capacity. Own solution design so AEs stay focused on the deal.
**Close the fulfillment loop.** Design for automatic tracking and shipping cost flow back into Faire so orders close and brands get paid—the hardest part of most enterprise integrations.
**Get brands live.** Work with brand IT teams, agencies, and middleware partners through setup and testing. Set honest timelines, plan controlled first orders, and hand off to Brand Success Managers with clear success criteria.
**Resolve complex escalations.** Take on the hardest integration issues for prospects and existing brands: inventory drift, pricing discrepancies, catalog mapping, order and fulfillment sync.
**Build the playbook.** Extend existing discovery tools, solution design templates, and reference architectures into a repeatable motion. Own how new integration types get codified and rolled out.
**Be the voice of brands' technical needs.** Separate what you can solve by routing to a different path from what only Product can close. For the latter, size the upside and bring Product and Engineering a quantified business case.
This is a quota-carrying role tied to brand activations supported and time to integration go-live. You'll report to [reporting line] and work closely with Enterprise AEs, Brand Success Managers, Integration Support, and Product.
**30-60-90 plan:** First 30 days: learn Faire's integration paths, partner network, and solution design process; shadow live enterprise deals. By 60 days: lead technical discovery and solution design on active deals; own a set of escalations end-to-end. By 90 days: extend reference architectures to cover common enterprise stacks; publish a technical qualification guide the AE team uses. Ongoing metrics: activations on SE-engaged deals, time from signature to integration go-live, brands going live with orders flowing automatically and fulfillment data flowing back.
Hybrid role: 3 days per week in office (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a flex day), with flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year.
**Requirements:**
- 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role (sales engineering, solutions engineering, solutions consulting, or integration consulting), ideally at a B2B SaaS, marketplace, or e-commerce company
- Track record of winning complex, multi-stakeholder deals as the technical lead alongside an AE
- Hands-on experience with at least one ERP (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, SAP, or similar) and one middleware or iPaaS platform (Celigo or similar); Shopify experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, OAuth, and JSON: can read API documentation, test endpoints, script in at least one language, and scope a custom build honestly; SQL is a plus
- Understanding of how catalog, inventory, pricing, orders, shipments, tracking, and shipping cost move between systems, and where that flow breaks
- Familiarity with shipping and fulfillment operations: label platforms, 3PLs and WMS, and flat-rate vs. variable-rate shipping
- Ability to translate technical constraints into business terms for executives, and business requirements into technical plans for engineers
- Commercial instincts: know when a technical problem is a deal problem, and prioritize time like a seller does
- Track record of taking an existing process and making it repeatable, with others adopting what you built
- Curious about AI and already using it in your technical workflow
- Comfortable working across time zones to support NAM and EU teams
- EDI experience (850, 856, 810, 846) is a plus
- Experience supporting international brands (multi-currency, VAT) is a plus
- Wholesale, retail, or supply chain experience is a strong plus
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco or New York City
