Commure is building an AI Operating System for healthcare, with a platform spanning ambient AI documentation, intelligent workflow automation, and autonomous revenue cycle management integrated with 60+ EHRs. The company serves 500,000+ clinicians across 500+ healthcare organizations, processes $25B+ in annual claims, and was recently valued at $7B with a $70M funding round.
As a Sales Engineer on the Ambient AI team, you will own pilot programs from initial scoping through contract signature and implementation handoff. You'll partner with Account Executives to run live pilots across ten major EHR systems (athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, AdvancedMD, ModMed, NextGen, Practice Fusion, WebPT, Prompt, iKnowMed, Meditech Expanse), typically managing multiple concurrent pilots.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading technical scoping calls with healthcare providers and decision-makers to capture specialty, note types, EHR systems, and workflows
- Building and standing up EHR integrations using browser automation, DOM injection, and API approaches
- Configuring advanced AI features (ICD coding, orders, Patient 360, carry-forward, pre-visit summaries) and helping providers implement them
- Translating clinical documentation requirements into template requests and triaging updates on a 24-hour SLA
- Owning pilot Slack channels as the thread of record, triaging requests within 24 hours, and maintaining current status in Salesforce
- Supporting the sales team by answering integration and feature questions, running weekly integrations sales desk meetings, and owning technical sections of RFPs and security questionnaires
- Delivering comprehensive handoffs to implementation teams with full documentation of integrations, templates, provider lists, and known issues
- Escalating findings to Engineering with clear reproduction steps and helping build tooling and playbooks to accelerate team ramp
Success metrics include pilots launching on committed dates, in-pilot issues triaged with appropriate speed and urgency, providers actively using Ambient and supported features, pilots converting to customers, and implementation teams able to pick up handoffs without rework.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–7 years of experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering, implementation, or healthcare IT (engineers transitioning to customer-facing roles welcome)
- Hands-on experience with at least one ambulatory EHR system (athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, AdvancedMD, NextGen, ModMed, Practice Fusion, or WebPT); Epic, Cerner, or Meditech Expanse experience is a plus
- Comfort reading and debugging integrations: browser automation, DOM, REST APIs, JSON schemas, HL7/FHIR; ability to use SQL and internal tooling to troubleshoot issues
- Ability to explain ambient AI note-building, failure modes, and solutions to physicians and technical teams in plain language
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent pilots across different EHRs, maintain Salesforce records, use Slack effectively, and write concise, specific updates
- Healthcare fluency including clinical documentation, specialty workflows, HIPAA compliance, and security questionnaires (SOC 2, HITRUST)
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for pilot launches and success
