Tanium is seeking a Regional Vice President of Solution Engineering to lead the Mid-Market/Commercial Solutions Engineering team. This role reports to the VP of Solutions Engineering and is responsible for building and scaling a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers who drive customer success and support the sales organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Solutions Engineers, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and retention.
- Own and scale a repeatable one-to-many technical discovery and enablement motion for the Mid-Market/Commercial segment, including demo days, service-design-style workshops, and self-serve content.
- Implement territory mapping and account/opportunity assignment with clear ownership models and consistent oversight.
- Drive execution against Solutions Engineering OKRs for the segment, translating company and team goals into specific, trackable targets for pipeline health, deal predictability, and technical win rate.
- Use pipeline and win-rate data to identify improvements and translate observations into concrete changes in team behavior; communicate findings to sales and executive stakeholders (e.g., improvements in deal cycle time and average sales price through better discovery, qualification, and enablement).
- Partner closely with Sales leadership to align on shared pipeline, revenue, and customer outcomes; identify risks and opportunities quickly and escalate appropriately.
- Operate collaboratively with Sales, Partner/PSA, Customer Success, Product Management, and Marketing teams.
- Build a repeatable enablement and technical discovery motion while preserving company culture and empowering consistent, data-backed execution.
Note: This role is remote and requires 40-50% travel.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar field is a plus.
- 7+ years in the industry with solid technical skills across networking, security, operations, scripting, and/or programming.
- 3-5 years leading a technical sales engineering or solution engineering team; must have led a team of individual contributors, not just a book of business.
- Deep sense of ownership, hands-on approach, proactive mindset, and highly collaborative working style.
