David Energy is a Series A clean energy company redefining the power sector by offering cheaper and cleaner electricity than traditional Retail Electricity Providers (REPs). The company leverages renewable supply (solar, wind) and controllable capacity (distributed batteries) to guarantee small commercial customers lower total electric spend than their incumbent utility. Currently operating in NYC (NYISO Zone J), David Energy is scaling rapidly with plans to expand across the Northeast. As Risk Manager, you will lead the establishment and execution of David Energy's risk management function during a critical growth phase. This is a leadership role responsible for building a world-class risk team and developing the frameworks that unlock value from the company's controllable capacity assets. Key responsibilities include: leading the overall risk management function; creating frameworks for using controllable capacity in risk mitigation; developing daily position tracking and risk reporting systems covering energy, capacity, RECs, and ancillary services; building and scaling the risk team as the company enters new markets; performing stress testing and seasonal hedge analysis on forward positions; and establishing risk adders for pricing components including variable load risk, shaping, and balancing costs. You will need 5+ years of experience in retail energy, energy trading, or energy risk management, with strong knowledge of wholesale power markets (NYISO, ERCOT, PJM, ISO-NE). Strong data analytics skills, SQL proficiency, and a quantitative background (physics, mathematics, economics) are highly valued. The ideal candidate combines deep energy market expertise with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
