Coast is modernizing B2B card payments infrastructure for commercial fleets and drivers. The Risk team owns the full credit and fraud lifecycle—underwriting policy, account management, fraud detection, and decisioning infrastructure automation. As a senior risk generalist, you'll operate across the entire risk surface: setting credit and fraud strategy, building the workflows and data pipelines that execute it, and measuring outcomes. You won't hand off ideas to another team—you'll design policy, wire it into decisioning systems, and own the results. You'll interact daily with heads of Sales, Product, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and the CEO. Key responsibilities include: • Own credit and fraud risk strategy end-to-end. Leverage internal credit performance, transaction, application, cash-flow, financial, and credit-bureau data to shape underwriting, line increase/decrease, account suspension, and other critical policies. Execute policies through credit reviews and high-risk enablement reviews, then iterate based on learnings. • Build and maintain decisioning infrastructure. Configure underwriting logic, case-management and monitoring workflows, and vendor integrations for fraud, identity, and document verification. Identify manual risk operations that can be automated and implement the automation. • Lead fraud investigations across account takeover, identity theft, and first-party fraud. Conduct root-cause analyses and ship data-driven detection rules and defenses. • Own risk data and reporting. Build and maintain dashboards, monitoring alerts, and underlying data models while partnering with Data Engineering. • Partner cross-functionally to lead credit and fraud initiatives. A typical week includes: running root-cause analyses on fraud events and recommending strategy changes; defending numbers in risk review and updating procedures; deploying changes in the decisioning platform and building monitoring dashboards; working the queue on high-risk cases and transaction monitoring; supporting risk operations on judgment-based decisions; tracking delinquency and charge-off by cohort; and managing the risk vendor stack (Alloy, Oscilar, Inscribe, Persona, Sentilink, Truebiz, SBFE) for hit rate and cost efficiency. Requirements: 4–8 years in credit risk, fraud risk, or risk strategy roles (ideally SME lending). AI-native mindset with daily use of AI tools. True generalist comfortable owning policy, investigation, and technical builds simultaneously. Strong SQL skills and ability to independently analyze transaction, cash-flow, credit, fraud, and application data. Hands-on experience configuring decisioning systems, risk workflow tools, or rules engines. Collaborative, humble approach with proven cross-team and vendor partnership track record.
