Brave Health is a mental health technology company committed to expanding access to compassionate, high-quality mental health care through digital platforms, particularly for underserved populations on Medicaid. The Revenue Cycle Specialist role reports to the Supervisor of Revenue Cycle Management and is responsible for ensuring accurate billing, timely claim submission, and effective revenue recovery across commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare payers.
Key responsibilities include identifying and analyzing denial trends to prevent future issues, researching and resolving unpaid, denied, and rejected claims through communication with payers, and handling EDI transactions including reconciliation of payer submissions and rejection reports. The role requires close partnership with the Insurance Verification team to identify upstream impacts on claim processing and collaboration across departments to implement process improvements.
Collections and payment resolution activities include completing collection activities in compliance with payer guidelines and filing limits, reviewing posted payments, and processing account adjustments. The specialist monitors patient accounts for non-payment and billing irregularities, investigates and responds to patient billing inquiries, and maintains accurate records throughout the process.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of RCM experience with strong accounts receivable background, proficiency with medical billing systems (Candid Health, Healthie), in-depth knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing processes, and working knowledge of medical coding principles and payer-specific requirements. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and experience in digital or virtual health environments. Preferred qualifications include background in mental or behavioral health billing, Spanish fluency, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
This is a full-time, 100% remote position with Monday-Friday work schedule. The role requires commitment to HIPAA and regulatory compliance guidelines.
