You will join the Design team as a Customer Experience Researcher, owning both research operations and insights generation. This is a full-stack role requiring you to build your own customer network, run recruiting pipelines, and conduct strategic field research.
Key responsibilities:
- Own research operations: actively source, screen, and schedule customer panels; build and nurture an ongoing network of VPs, partners, and installers for continuous strategic feedback
- Conduct rapid, tactical research including contextual inquiries, prototype evaluations, and mockup reviews that directly impact product decisions before features ship
- Lead strategic research conversations with B2B customers, regularly engaging with IT Directors, VPs, and C-Suite executives to understand operational needs
- Travel approximately once monthly for on-site contextual inquiries to observe how partners and installers deploy hardware in real-world environments
- Research the complete user journey, understanding how different users interact with the Verkada Command software platform and how that connects to physical device installation
You will work with everyone from C-suite executives using the software to field partners mounting hardware, bridging the gap between hardware and software user experiences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A couple of years of UX/Product research experience preferred, though high aptitude, immense curiosity, and growth mindset are equally valued
- Comfortable with operational hustle: writing screeners, managing outreach, and handling research logistics
- Executive presence: highly articulate, confident, able to lead conversations with enterprise decision-makers
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; preference for deep qualitative interviews over anonymous metrics
- Excitement about diving into the physical world of IoT, connected devices, and physical security (prior hardware experience not required)
- Willingness to travel approximately once per month for field research
