Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineering Manager to lead a growing team in Costa Mesa, California. The Reliability Engineering team ensures that Anduril's autonomous defense systems survive real-world conditions and deliver consistent performance for military customers. The role spans the complete product lifecycle—from early concept design through production scale-up and fielded operations—using data, statistical methods, and engineering analysis to forecast system performance and influence design decisions.
In this position, you will lead and manage a team of Reliability Engineers, providing technical guidance on reliability principles, best practices, and artifact development. You will manage resource allocation and capacity planning across multiple concurrent programs, drive recruiting to support team growth, and conduct performance management and career development planning. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing tailored reliability and maintainability program plans aligned with Anduril and customer needs, defining the Reliability organization's vision and goals, and standardizing development efforts across the business.
You will conduct and review complex reliability artifacts including FMEA/FMECAs, Fault Tree Analysis, and Qualification Test Plans. You'll develop reliability requirements and collaborate with design teams to implement solutions at system, sub-system, and component levels. The role involves leading maintainability efforts, including predictive maintenance analysis, preventive maintenance procedure development, and operational performance metrics. You will manage product/program risk databases, ensure proper risk mitigation strategies, and liaise with customers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders on reliability matters.
Additional responsibilities include driving continuous improvement in reliability processes and methodologies, ensuring compliance with military and industry standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-217, etc.), contributing to proposal efforts, and providing executive-level reporting on team performance and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, results-oriented leader with proven experience managing Reliability efforts for complex hardware and software integration programs in the defense or aerospace sector.
