Duolingo is seeking a Regional People Lead for EMEA, based in London, to serve as both a senior People Business Partner and operational owner for the region's growing presence. Reporting to the Head of Talent Management and Rewards, you will lead and develop a People Operations Manager while bridging global HR strategy with local execution across multiple EMEA markets. Strategic Partnership: You'll serve as the senior People partner to EMEA regional leaders, providing counsel on organizational design, performance management, team health, and growth. You'll lead engagement, inclusion, and talent planning initiatives across the region, guide leaders through organizational change, and own complex employee relations matters including investigations, grievances, performance management, and disciplinary processes. You'll use people data and engagement insights to identify organizational health trends early. Regional Operations & Compliance: You'll own regional People operations end-to-end, managing the PEO/EOR relationship (currently Globalization Partners) across multiple markets, including payroll submissions, employment changes, terminations, and new-country implementations. You'll serve as the regional authority on employment compliance across UK, Germany, and other EMEA jurisdictions, ensuring proper legal review where required. You'll validate Workday data against source documents, serve as Finance liaison on budgets and vendor contracts, and identify opportunities to improve processes through workflow and automation. Recruiting & Workplace Experience: Partner with Talent Acquisition on regional hiring strategy and locally relevant onboarding. Collaborate with London workplace operations on facilities, safety, and vendor management. Ensure strong employee experience across hybrid and remote environments, serving as a consistent point of contact through the employee lifecycle. Global Representation: Represent EMEA in global People forums and planning cycles, ensuring regional voice shapes global policy rather than simply receiving it. Bring clarity and consistent ownership to how global People processes land locally.
