Wave is building financial services for Sub-Saharan Africa, with a mission to make Africa the first cashless continent. The company operates a mobile money platform across 9 countries, enabling cash deposits, withdrawals, peer-to-peer payments, and business payments with no account fees and instant availability.
As a Regional Lead, you will own end-to-end regional execution across one of Wave's operating countries. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic vision and field presence. You will manage field-based teams responsible for agent acquisition, distribution, and on-the-ground execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own regional agent network expansion and user growth, ensuring strong agent coverage and sustained active usage of Wave products
- Lead and manage field-based teams responsible for agent acquisition, distribution, and execution
- Recruit, contract, train, activate, and ensure agent compliance with KYC and AML/CTF requirements
- Drive user acquisition and retention through agent-led and field-distribution channels
- Monitor performance against targets using data to identify risks and continuously improve results
- Coordinate agent liquidity management to maintain reliable cash and e-value availability
- Manage the agent lifecycle including performance improvement, churn, closures, and asset recovery
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver operational excellence, compliance, and customer experience
You will thrive in the field, use data to guide decisions, and know how to build, motivate, and scale high-performing teams. The role requires fluency in both English and French, a Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field, and at least 5 years of relevant experience managing agent networks or user acquisition with a minimum of 3 years managing field-based teams. Background in telecom, financial services, payments, FMCG, or similar high-scale field operations is preferred.
