Zen Educate is a fast-growing UK edtech company building a digital platform that helps schools find, vet, and manage temporary educators efficiently. Schools in the UK spend over £2bn annually on agency staff; Zen's all-in-one platform gives school leaders real-time search, booking, and management capabilities with full visibility and compliance control.
You will lead the commercial team across the South West region (Exeter/Truro), taking over from a successful leader who is progressing within the company. This is a people-leadership role focused on building high-performing teams, developing effective managers, and driving regional growth through systematic, scalable approaches rather than individual heroics.
In your first 6–12 months, you will:
- Become an expert in customer pain points and how Zen's platform solves them, using this knowledge to set standards for your managers and team.
- Identify the biggest growth opportunity within each of your teams and develop concrete plans to pursue it.
- Establish playbooks and operating procedures that balance excellent customer experience with operational efficiency.
- Coach both managers and individual contributors to be the best versions of themselves.
- Align strategy and process with central supporting functions while rolling out initiatives regionally.
The company is 500+ people, well-funded, and operating across the UK, US, and Canada with strong unit economics. The culture emphasizes mission-driven impact on education, first-principles reasoning over best-practice replication, and building systems that scale rather than relying on individual effort.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven track record as a leader managing teams and developing managers.
- Demonstrated ability to set high bars and coach both managers and individual contributors.
- Strong systems-thinking and process-led mindset; ability to build playbooks and operating procedures.
- Comfort aligning strategy with central functions and executing regional initiatives.
- Passion for education and real-world impact.
- Ability to think strategically about multi-year regional transformation, not just incremental growth.
- Experience finding simple solutions to complex problems and competitive positioning.
