Caristo Diagnostics, a University of Oxford spin-out founded in 2018, is seeking a Quantitative Imaging Scientist to join its Product Innovation team at the Oxford headquarters. Caristo is a global leader in AI technologies for cardiovascular disease, with FDA-approved diagnostic devices (CaRi-Heart® for coronary artery inflammation, approved July 2026, and a coronary artery plaque diagnostic device approved 2025). The company was named a 2026 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. In this role, you will own Caristo's CT calibration capability—the foundation of both current clinical services and next-generation AI-driven cardiovascular products. You will work at the interface between research, engineering, operations, and clinical delivery in a small, highly collaborative team. Key responsibilities include: • Own and maintain Caristo's CT calibration capability and associated roadmap • Deliver customer calibration requirements that support clinical service delivery • Continuously improve calibration methodologies and develop next-generation approaches for future products • Support translation of new scientific ideas into deployable products • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, and Product Innovation teams to ensure successful implementation • Identify and resolve technical bottlenecks affecting product performance and scalability • Contribute to validation strategies and regulatory programmes • Act as technical point of contact for Oxford University collaborators and external research partners • Support delivery of research projects, publications, and patents • Contribute to technical documentation supporting regulatory submissions • Coordinate activities across research, engineering, and operations teams • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Help prioritize competing requests based on business impact and scientific value Within 12 months, you will be recognized as the owner of Caristo's calibration capability, deliver customer calibrations reliably and predictably, support development of next-generation products and regulatory submissions, unblock teams through rapid decision-making and technical leadership, build effective relationships across Caristo and Oxford University, and improve the speed of innovation translation into products. The ideal candidate makes good decisions with incomplete information, understands that a useful answer today can be more valuable than a perfect answer next month, thrives in collaborative environments, balances scientific rigor with practical delivery, shares ideas early and iterates based on feedback, takes ownership of outcomes, communicates clearly and pragmatically, can prioritize when everything appears urgent, and is excited by translating science into real-world impact. Benefits include competitive salary (for Oxford location), 25 holidays per year plus bank holidays, enhanced pension contribution, private medical insurance, life insurance, cycle-to-work scheme, and additional benefits for long-service. Requirements: The posting does not explicitly state years of experience, specific technical certifications, or formal education requirements. However, the role clearly requires expertise in quantitative imaging, medical device calibration, and cardiovascular imaging science, with demonstrated ability to work across research, engineering, and clinical teams. Experience with regulatory submissions and medical device development is implied by the responsibilities.
