Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to join their manufacturing operations team in Costa Mesa. This role is embedded within the manufacturing process and focuses on quality assurance, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include managing the Materials Review Board (MRB) process, leading containment and resolution of nonconforming materials, and coordinating with engineering teams on dispositions. You will review manufacturing work instructions, create and execute inspection plans for incoming, in-process, and end-of-line inspections, and train technicians on inspection procedures. The role involves root cause analysis, vendor return material authorization (RMA) management, and tracking quality metrics weekly.
You will perform internal audits, develop quality assurance policies and procedures, and conduct deep-dive data analysis to identify trends and process variations. Additional responsibilities include staying current with inspection technologies, communicating process performance to stakeholders, and proposing continuous improvement projects.
Required qualifications include an Associate degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, plus 5+ years in manufacturing and/or quality/engineering roles. You must have hands-on experience with calibrated inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arm), CAD software, and inspection data management systems. Experience with quality management standards (AS9100, ISO9001, IATF 16949) is required, as is the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance. Preferred qualifications include ASQ certifications (CQE, QIA) and IPC certifications (A-610, A-620), plus direct experience with First Article Inspection and Report (FAIR) processes.
