Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. The company has moved from consumer applications to scaling production of its flagship model and is now extending its platform to commercial applications including tugs, ferries, and defense systems, with years of signed contracts.
As Quality Engineer, you will own the quality of parts purchased and boats built. This is a hands-on role that requires qualifying and managing the supplier base, executing day-to-day quality on the production floor, and driving non-conformances to root cause to prevent recurrence.
Key responsibilities include: owning supplier quality for electromechanical hardware (wire harnesses, electronic assemblies, batteries, powertrain components); defining incoming inspection plans and acceptance criteria; qualifying new suppliers and manufacturing processes through FAI, PPAP/APQP, process audits, and capability studies; driving supplier non-conformances from containment through root cause and permanent corrective action; reviewing electrical schematics, harness drawings, engineering drawings, and GD&T to establish acceptance criteria; establishing quality metrics and tracking methods; partnering with engineering and suppliers on design and manufacturability issues during new product introduction; building Arc's supplier quality processes from the ground up; dispositioning non-conforming material through Material Review Board; and traveling 50%+ to supplier sites for qualification, production ramp, audits, and issue resolution.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline with 3+ years of experience in supplier, manufacturing, or quality engineering. Strong technical foundation in electromechanical hardware, including ability to read electrical schematics, wiring and harness drawings, engineering drawings, and GD&T. Hands-on experience driving supplier quality using FAI, PPAP/APQP, PFMEA, control plans, SCAR/8D, root cause analysis, and process capability. Comfortable reading engineering drawings and GD&T. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and offsite as needed. Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs.
Bonus qualifications include experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001), standing up supplier quality processes, CQE certification, wire harness manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, batteries and EV powertrain hardware, electrical test methods, dimensional inspection, machining and other manufacturing processes, and enthusiasm for boating.
