Sakana AI is seeking an experienced Project Manager to build the foundation for the company's contribution to Japan's and the world's manufacturing ecosystem through AI innovation. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Tokyo requiring business-level Japanese (N1 equivalent) and preferably business-level English.
You will collaborate with engineers and researchers to solve complex manufacturing challenges using AI, build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturing companies and related organizations, and develop and execute go-to-market strategies informed by AI and manufacturing technology trends.
Required experience (3+ years in at least one of the following):
- Production, SCM, quality, equipment, or development process transformation and project management at major manufacturing or engineering firms
- Coverage of large Japanese manufacturing clients at a global top-tier management consulting firm
- Business development, project management, or product management at startups or global tech companies (AI experience preferred)
You must have a passion for generative AI models like LLMs and AI agents, and hold a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, manufacturing engineering, business administration, or a related field.
Nice-to-have skills include production planning, supply chain optimization, predictive maintenance (IoT/PLC/sensors), quality management and failure analysis, and manufacturing data infrastructure (MES/ERP/data lakes/data spaces).
