Salary: USD 145,000 - 250,000 / annual
OpenTeams, founded by Travis Oliphant (creator of NumPy and SciPy) and built by veterans of the open-source ecosystem, is seeking a Program Manager to lead execution of an AI/ML platform program supporting national security missions. This is a senior individual contributor role with end-to-end ownership of program cost, schedule, performance, milestone acceptance, contract deliverables, subcontractor performance, and risk/change management.
You will own the day-to-day relationship with the Government program office, serving as the primary programmatic interface and the point of contact for all program-level decisions and escalations. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining integrated program schedules, managing contract deliverables (technical reports, architecture documentation, status reports), tracking Government-furnished dependencies, documenting and escalating at-risk items, managing subcontractor and vendor performance, coordinating cleared personnel and security onboarding, maintaining the program risk register and decision log, managing scope/schedule deviations through formal change control, and preparing/leading program reviews and executive briefings.
The program teams are intentionally small and senior, with no layers between you and the work. You will surface dependencies early, document decisions as they are made, and escalate risks before they become problems. This is milestone-based, fixed-price work where the schedule is the budget—you must understand and own that constraint.
Travel up to 25% is required, primarily to Government facilities and between company locations. Classified work requires appropriate clearance and onsite presence in accredited facilities. Position is contingent upon contract award.
