OpenAI's Product Policy team is seeking a Youth Policy Manager to shape how young people use and experience AI across platforms including ChatGPT, GPTs, the GPT Store, and the OpenAI API. This role will develop and maintain comprehensive policy frameworks governing youth access, age-appropriate experiences, privacy, learning, wellbeing, content moderation, and family involvement. You will partner cross-functionally with Product, User Operations, Legal, Safety, Integrity, Research, Communications, and Global Affairs teams to understand youth needs, anticipate risks, and prevent misuse. Key responsibilities include translating policy into actionable implementation standards and product requirements that engineering and trust & safety teams can embed into systems, creating clear enforcement protocols and escalation paths, and leveraging data, research, and feedback from young people and families to continuously improve policy approaches. The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of experience in youth technology, trust and safety, policy, research, education/edtech, or child development, with demonstrated expertise in how technology platforms design for and manage risks affecting young people. You should have specific product experience partnering with technical teams on responsible, age-appropriate development, and a deep understanding of the youth and AI policy landscape. Excellent communication skills across product managers, engineers, researchers, policy experts, and executives are essential. You're comfortable with ambiguity, creative in identifying opportunities to use data and research to inform policy, and understand how diverse stakeholders—young people, families, educators, civil society, governments, and enterprise customers—think about youth AI experiences. This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco requiring three days in-office per week, with travel as needed. OpenAI offers relocation assistance.
