OpenAI is seeking a Product Marketing Manager for Advertising to develop and execute go-to-market strategies for the company's advertising business. You will combine advertiser insights, market understanding, and product knowledge to shape positioning, inform product priorities, and drive adoption and measurable business impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define product and marketing strategy for OpenAI's advertising business in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Develop deep understanding of advertisers through customer research, market analysis, and competitive insights
- Own positioning and messaging, translating complex AI capabilities into compelling narratives for different advertiser audiences
- Partner with Product and Engineering to bring advertiser needs into roadmap discussions and product decisions
- Develop and drive go-to-market plans for new products and features, owning execution from planning through launch
- Create advertiser-facing content and sales enablement materials (product narratives, sales decks, one-pagers, FAQs, launch communications)
- Partner with Sales, Partnerships, Data Science, and Analytics to define success metrics and assess performance
- Surface advertiser concerns related to performance, safety, policy, and trust
- Align cross-functional partners around priorities, responsibilities, and timelines
- Build repeatable approaches to launches and messaging, mentoring peers
You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Partnerships to understand advertiser needs and bring new products to market. This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution, independently navigates ambiguity, and brings cross-functional partners together to deliver results.
Requirements:
- Experience independently developing product and marketing strategies and bringing products to market, particularly in advertising, marketing technology, platforms, or data and AI
- Experience in structured problem-solving environments (strategy/management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, venture capital)
- Understanding of advertiser goals and the advertising ecosystem (measurement, targeting, relevance, creative, auctions, performance tradeoffs)
- Ability to turn customer research and market insights into clear positioning and actionable go-to-market plans
- Clear and persuasive communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts into customer value
- Use of qualitative and quantitative evidence (customer interviews, surveys, adoption data, experiments) to make decisions
- Structured problem-solving and strong judgment in ambiguous challenges
- Ability to build effective partnerships across Product, Engineering, Sales, and other teams, influencing without formal authority
- Commitment to improving team processes and helping peers strengthen their craft
