Kin Insurance is seeking a Product Manager to own and evolve the product configuration platform—the infrastructure powering how Kin builds, configures, and manages its products. This is a true platform role where your customers are internal teams: State Management, Underwriting, Insurance, Compliance, and other technical systems that depend on product data.
You will own the product strategy and roadmap for the Product API, the product configuration data model, and product expansion and revision tooling. Your core responsibility is defining how internal teams consume and depend on product data, then building the platform to serve them effectively. You'll drive the Product API strategy and versioning standards to ensure reliable, well-documented interfaces for both internal and future external consumers.
Key responsibilities include leading discovery on how the platform extends as Kin's offerings grow beyond insurance, grounding decisions in how consuming teams actually work. You'll build and scale the AI-enablement layer on the Product API MCP, using AI for rapid prototyping and self-service workflows. You'll partner with engineering and design to move platform capabilities from prototype through production, write precise specs and requirements, and define metrics measuring how independently consuming teams can deliver and maintain products.
Success means internal teams ship product changes through self-service tooling with less friction and reduced dependence on engineering. The insurance product data model and API standards become documented and consistently adopted. The Product API MCP layer moves from concept to real AI-enabled workflows. A clear view of platform success—measured by consumer independence—is established and shaping the roadmap.
