Vinyl Equity is building next-generation capital-markets infrastructure, starting with a modern, API-driven transfer agent for public companies. The company is transforming legacy transfer-agent operations by replacing slow, manual processes with secure, automated workflows. Backed by Index Ventures, Spark Capital, and Infinity Ventures, Vinyl has a strong team with deep experience from NYSE, Equiniti, Computershare, and AngelList.
As Product Manager for Operations & Applied AI, you'll own the product strategy for Vinyl's core operations domain—where every transfer, corporate action, proxy vote, and payment is a regulated, multi-party workflow requiring absolute correctness. Your mission is to make these workflows self-serve, AI-assisted, and scalable without proportional manual effort.
Key responsibilities include: (1) Making Vinyl's operations AI-native by building baselines for operator effort, deploying human-in-the-loop AI to high-volume workflows (ingestion, mapping, support triage, operator copilots), and standardizing the applied-AI playbook across teams; (2) Owning the requirements pipeline—translating operator and issuer needs into build-ready specs with domain facts, edge cases, and clear recommendations; (3) Shipping self-serve experiences for issuers and shareholders (reporting, exports, status views, and secure MCP access for issuers' internal AI tools); (4) Extending the platform to new workflows (tender offers, escheatment, disbursements) with clear ROI; (5) Instrumenting real-time visibility across multi-party processes so all stakeholders see who owns each step; (6) Designing correctness and controls into the product—encoding invariants, maker-checker approvals, and audit trails so compliance is a software property.
You won't manage engineers but will set product direction and ship alongside them. This is a Chicago-based role at the West Loop headquarters, co-located with the CEO, operations, sales, and partnerships. You'll partner daily with the global engineering team and must work in-office at least three days per week.
Required: 7+ years in product, program, or technical operations; hands-on experience deploying AI/ML in product or operations (eval-driven development, prompt engineering, API integrations); strong technical foundation (read code, understand integrations, evaluate models, work directly with engineers); track record designing correctness and controls in regulated or high-stakes domains; proven ability to bring order to complex operations and reduce manual load; ability to measure business impact and collaborate asynchronously with clear specs and decision records.
Nice to have: fintech/regtech/compliance-heavy environment experience; familiarity with ReactJS, NextJS, NodeJS, AWS, GitHub; team or function building experience; operations-engineering, solutions-architect, or TPM background.
