OpenAI's Safety Systems team is hiring a Product Manager to lead safety initiatives for multimodal AI models (audio, image, video). You will drive the product strategy and roadmap for ensuring safe, responsible deployment of multimodal capabilities across OpenAI's frontier models, including GPT-Live and ChatGPT Images. In this role, you will partner closely with AI researchers, engineers, data scientists, policy experts, and cross-functional stakeholders to embed safety throughout the development and deployment lifecycle. You'll develop comprehensive frameworks for understanding and mitigating deployment risks, drawing on data analysis, expert consultation, and adversarial assessments. You will define strategic priorities and product roadmaps focused on improving deployment safety, enhancing reliability, and managing multimodal AI capabilities responsibly. Key responsibilities include creating scalable approaches for evaluating and improving safety outcomes, establishing repeatable processes to integrate cutting-edge AI safety research into products, and developing actionable metrics that capture safety performance and user experience at scale. You should have 6+ years of product management experience with specific expertise in AI safety, trust & safety, integrity, or related domains. The ideal candidate is deeply curious about interdisciplinary fields such as human-computer interaction, psychology, and philosophy. You excel at driving consensus in ambiguous spaces, challenging underlying assumptions through insightful questioning, and communicating complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
