Alpaca is a US-headquartered global leader in agent-first brokerage infrastructure serving hundreds of financial institutions across 40 countries. The company provides institutional-grade APIs for stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, fixed income, and 24/5 trading, supporting over 10 million brokerage accounts. Backed by $400 million in funding from top-tier investors including Spark Capital, Tribe Capital, and Y Combinator, Alpaca operates as a self-clearing broker-dealer with a globally distributed team of 400+ members.
In this role, you will own the complete corporate actions product lifecycle at a rapidly scaling self-clearing broker-dealer. Your mission is to build and operate the systems, vendor relationships, and processes that keep Alpaca accurate, compliant, and on time across every corporate action—from announcement ingestion and entitlement calculation through processing, reconciliation, and client credit. You will ensure corporate action operations scale reliably as Alpaca adds new event types, asset classes, international markets, and partner institutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the corporate actions product roadmap end-to-end: announcement capture, entitlement calculation, mandatory and voluntary event processing, payouts, and exception handling. Define timelines, acceptance criteria, and quality gates for accurate, timely processing at scale.
- Managing vendor relationships with corporate action data providers and building announcement review workflows to establish trustworthy data as a prerequisite for automation.
- Designing staged automation for mandatory corporate actions and pre-reconciliation processes.
- Delivering entitlement worksheets, partial processing capabilities (process selected accounts or correspondents while excluding problematic ones), and dashboards for processing time, load, progress, and credited amounts.
- Coordinating corporate action work required for newly launched international markets.
- Partnering with cross-functional engineering teams to prevent conflicts across Security Master, brokerage, and ledger systems.
Over time, you will have the opportunity to grow into broader ownership across clearing and post-trade infrastructure including security master, ledger integrity, multi-market readiness, and platform foundations that keep brokerage, custody, and books and records in sync.
REQUIREMENTS (Must-Haves):
- Deep working knowledge of brokerage corporate action processing—announcement sources, record/ex/pay dates, entitlements, mandatory vs. voluntary events. Must have lived through high-volume event seasons at a broker-dealer, clearing firm, or custody/post-trade platform.
- Proven track record in Product Management or technical program management at a fintech, brokerage, or financial infrastructure company. Must know how to create a roadmap, manage a backlog, and ship under hard operational deadlines.
- Clearing and post-trade fluency: enough depth to reason about stock record, ledgers, settlements, and books and records.
- Exceptional ability to coordinate across Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Tax, Finance, and Legal. Must translate complex business needs into clear engineering requirements and defend prioritization decisions.
- Comfortable working with data systems, vendor feeds, reconciliation workflows, and partnering closely with engineers on observability and data integrity.
- Strong operating judgment to weigh risk, operational efficiency, tech feasibility, time, and budget in a regulated self-clearing environment.
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Familiarity with how corporate actions feed tax reporting (cost basis, wash sales, 1099 event mapping) and Security Master tax attributes.
- Experience with B2B2C correspondent/broker-as-a-service models and partner sandbox/testing needs.
- AI-native PM workflow: recurring use of tools like Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or custom agents in PRD drafting, incident synthesis, data exploration, and prototyping.
