OpenAI is hiring a Product Manager to own the strategy and execution of the app ecosystem across ChatGPT and Codex platforms, spanning both consumer and enterprise use cases. This role sits at the intersection of first-party product experiences and partner-led launches, requiring the ability to translate user needs, model capabilities, platform constraints, developer requirements, and enterprise controls into delightful, reliable, and safe products.
Key responsibilities include developing the strategy and roadmap for ChatGPT and Codex app ecosystem experiences; building and shipping high-quality first-party app experiences that showcase platform capabilities; collaborating with best-in-class partners to create experiences solving real user and business workflows; defining product foundations and quality standards for a trusted app ecosystem; and leading cross-functional execution across engineering, design, research, partnerships, GTM, legal, privacy, security, support, and data/evals teams.
The ideal candidate has a track record of building and scaling consumer or enterprise product experiences with strong product taste and measurable user impact. Experience building app platforms, marketplaces, or partner ecosystems is highly valued. Technical fluency around MCPs, APIs, SDKs, and model/product constraints is essential. The role requires the ability to move fluidly between strategy, product, partner judgment, and operational execution, with crisp written communication and the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous, fast-moving product areas. A deep commitment to user trust, safety, privacy, accessibility, and enterprise readiness is critical.
