The company provides institutional-grade APIs for stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, fixed income, and 24/5 trading, supporting over 10 million brokerage accounts. Backed by $400 million in funding from top-tier investors including Portage Ventures, Spark Capital, and Y Combinator, Alpaca operates a globally distributed team of 400+ members.
You will own Alpaca's EU brokerage expansion end-to-end: defining strategy, shipping products, and working with regulators, partners, and internal teams to establish Alpaca as the brokerage platform of choice across Europe. This is a strategic and execution-focused role combining product definition with hands-on delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
• Own brokerage products tailored for EU markets, including equities, ETFs, tax-wrapper accounts, and regional offerings
• Drive EU market access expansion while meeting MiFID II / MiFIR, ESMA, and local NCA requirements
• Own the EU tax and tax-wrapper product surface end-to-end: wrapper eligibility rules, tax-lot and cost-basis tracking, withholding and reclaim processes, and local reporting files
• Build and execute the EU product roadmap with focus on MiFID II / MiFIR compliance and regional market needs
• Evaluate build-vs-buy scenarios and prioritize regional roadmap sequencing
• Manage EU direct connectivity to venues and market infrastructure, reducing reliance on intermediary paths
• Evaluate, onboard, and integrate local broker partnerships to expand coverage and resilience
• Navigate cross-border complexity including passporting, multi-jurisdiction onboarding, and coordination between Alpaca's global platform and EU infrastructure
• Write product requirements and collaborate with engineers to execute programs meeting local regulatory and market standards
• Lead customer calls around brokerage processes and product issues to inform product improvements
• Report on product status and results to internal and external stakeholders, including regional partners and institutional clients
• Improve brokerage operational efficiency by providing solutions and owning relevant metrics
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, finance, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Engineering, Consulting, and/or startup founding, preferably within financial services or fintech
• Demonstrated interest and experience in brokerage, capital markets, or fintech within the EU
• Strong understanding of MiFID II / MiFIR, ESMA, the EU capital markets landscape, and how member-state tax and tax-wrapper rules shape product design
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) with excellent collaboration abilities
• Business acumen to understand tradeoffs between stakeholders and technology feasibility with time and budget constraints
Nice-to-haves:
• Experience developing brokerage products in EU markets
• Technical background working with APIs, particularly in financial services or trading platforms
• Familiarity with CSDR, EMIR, T2S, or CSD connectivity
• Hands-on experience shipping tax-wrapper or tax-reporting products (PEA / PEA-PME, ISK, PIR), including tax lots, withholding, and local reporting
• Experience with cross-border / passporting investment products
• Additional EU languages beyond English
• Experience at a fintech, startup, or EU-authorized investment firm
