Proton.ai is building an AI operating system for wholesale distribution, unifying CRM, PIM, eCommerce AI, and Order & Quote Entry AI into a single platform. The company has been embedding AI into distribution workflows since 2018 and is backed by Felicis Ventures and Battery Ventures.
As a Product Manager, you will own product domains end-to-end, reporting to the VP of Product. You will lead a multi-functional squad at the intersection of AI capability and real distributor workflows, taking ambiguous problem spaces through discovery, definition, build, launch, adoption, and revenue generation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own your domain from fuzzy problem space to growth, taking full responsibility for outcomes
- Conduct frequent onsite visits to distributors, shadowing reps and learning workflows directly from warehouse and sales floor environments
- Run genuinely iterative development with customers in the loop, shipping small and putting working software in front of real users early
- Build hands-on with engineering, design, and data science to ship features and agentic workflows
- Own adoption across the installed base, not just launch; run alphas and betas and drive rollout success
- Enable GTM by providing sales and CS with positioning, proof, and training; join customer and prospect calls and ensure the product is sellable and supportable
The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in the Harvard Square office in Cambridge, MA.
Requirements:
- At least 2 years managing features end-to-end through the SDLC; early-stage startup experience (Seed through B or C) is a plus
- Real agile experience with the judgment to adapt it; you've shipped incomplete features on purpose to learn faster
- Technical and AI collaboration skills; you've built alongside engineers and data scientists to deploy AI-centric features at scale and are fluent enough to discuss data models, APIs, and service boundaries with senior engineers
- Daily, hands-on use of AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent) to ship real work; you can articulate how you structure context and validate outputs
- Customer-facing range; equally comfortable in a warehouse with a rep or on calls with VPs; you prefer being with users over being briefed about them
- Data-driven and adaptive thinking; you make data-driven decisions while embracing the uncertainty of early-stage vertical B2B SaaS
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills; you navigate complexity, distill key issues, and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Business sense and continuous improvement mindset; strong business intuition and appetite for innovation, iteration, and AI excellence
Big plus: experience with complex B2B, enterprise, or ERP-adjacent software; agentic products and patterns for trust, correction, and handoff between person and agent; systems-of-record or integrations work and understanding how messy real-world data becomes a clean canonical model.
