LatchBio is advancing humanity's ability to engineer biology by improving AI's application across basic research, drug discovery, and biosecurity. The company operates a platform used daily by over 100 scientists and has published work featured in benchmarks and research announcements from leading AI labs including Anthropic and xAI.
As Product Manager, you will be the primary voice for the science and operations teams, translating their needs into clear engineering priorities. You'll work closely with over 100 daily platform users, conducting weekly conversations with dozens of scientists to identify friction points and opportunities for improvement. You'll also partner with the operations team to understand the challenges of running a large scientific organization—tracking progress, staffing projects, resource allocation—and prioritize features that reduce friction in those workflows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting regular user research with scientists and operations staff to surface pain points and unmet needs
- Defining success metrics and working with engineering to move them, framing work by impact
- Owning outcomes rather than just shipping features; ensuring the team focuses effort where it matters most
- Creating detailed product specifications and prototypes (using Figma and AI tools like Claude) to communicate vision clearly to engineering
- Balancing deep, detailed work on user workflows with strategic thinking about company-wide priorities
You'll report to Chief Product Officer Hannah Le and work closely with the engineering team (12+ engineers), operations leadership, and the science team. The role is on-site in San Francisco with team meetings on Mondays and Fridays plus ad hoc sessions. The company emphasizes radical transparency, output-driven culture, and flexibility in how people work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Obsession with user experience and attention to detail in product design
- Ability to prototype and design flows yourself using Figma and AI tools—this is expected, not optional
- Willingness to dig into how people actually work, combined with strategic thinking to identify highest-impact priorities
- An undergraduate biology background is sufficient; you do not need to be a scientist
- Strong communication skills to serve as voice for both scientists and operations teams
