Chalk is a data platform for machine learning applications, recently raised $50M Series A led by Felicis. The company combines high-performance infrastructure (Rust-based) with developer-friendly tools, serving leading companies in fraud detection, identity verification, and clean energy optimization.
You will join as an early Product Manager in San Francisco, working directly with the VP of Product and co-founders in a fast-moving environment. The role combines product management and project management responsibilities with significant autonomy and ownership.
Key responsibilities include: defining and executing product priorities with leadership; understanding user needs across data and AI/ML teams and translating feedback into requirements; driving end-to-end delivery including scoping, milestones, and release coordination; partnering deeply with engineering on technically complex areas like developer experience, performance, and reliability; writing product specifications and making tradeoffs aligned with business outcomes; defining success metrics and iterating based on data; and supporting strategic initiatives around pricing, packaging, and feature scoping.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of product management experience on technical products (developer tools, platforms, infrastructure, data systems); Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or quantitative discipline; strong technical acumen to engage with engineering on architecture and system constraints; demonstrated ability to ship complex products in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; willingness to own both PM and project management responsibilities; low ego with high ownership bias toward execution; strong written and verbal communication.
Bonus experience includes Python proficiency for analysis/prototypes, background in data science/analytics/experimentation, familiarity with distributed systems/query engines/compilers/data infrastructure, and enterprise customer experience.
The role is in-office 5 days per week in San Francisco with flexibility for unavoidable conflicts. Compensation is a competitive salary plus equity package based on experience.
