Rippling is a unified platform for HR, IT, and Finance, enabling businesses to manage the entire employee lifecycle in a single system. The company has raised $1.85B+ from top-tier investors including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, and Sequoia.
This Product Manager role owns the AI agent harness and runtime layer—the critical infrastructure that differentiates Rippling's AI agents from commodity models. While model quality is converging across providers, the harness is the sustainable competitive advantage: it manages context, recovers from tool failures, enforces guardrails, and improves over time without constant manual instruction rewrites.
You will own the architecture that transforms a language model into a reliable worker, including planning, tool invocation, result interpretation, and escalation logic. You'll define the contract between orchestration and the harness, establish guardrails, and ensure the harness scales across all agents Rippling builds.
Key responsibilities include:
- Making build-vs-buy decisions on runtime architecture
- Defining success criteria for memory systems and self-improvement loops
- Partnering with staff engineers to review designs and catch architectural issues before shipping
- Owning the harness product roadmap and its evolution
- Ensuring the runtime supports Rippling's expanding agent use cases
This is a high-leverage role for someone who can bridge product strategy and deep technical understanding. You'll work with world-class engineers on infrastructure that directly impacts customer trust and agent reliability.
