CHAOS Industries, a defense-tech company founded in 2022 and backed by $1B in funding from top-tier investors (8VC, Accel, Valor), is building a new internal software and AI team called "Agents of CHAOS" to accelerate the company's operations and effectiveness. As Product Lead, you will own the discovery, prioritization, and delivery of internal software solutions and AI capabilities across CHAOS. You'll work directly with teams in Finance, HR, Recruiting, Growth, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and Security to understand workflows, identify bottlenecks, and determine whether to build, buy, integrate, automate, or change processes. This is a hands-on builder role as much as a product role. You will personally prototype, write code, create automations and integrations, and use AI-assisted development tools alongside engineers—not simply scope work for others. You'll turn ambiguous requests into clear problem statements with defined success measures, develop priorities in concert with a steering committee, and balance quick wins against longer-term platform capabilities. Over time, you'll establish reusable foundations (data access, permissions, integrations, agent workflows) that enable teams across CHAOS to build and automate more effectively themselves. Key responsibilities include: - Interviewing cross-functional teams to understand workflows and opportunities for internal software or AI - Translating ambiguous requests into clear problem statements and appropriately scoped projects - Developing priorities that address quick wins, reusable platform capabilities, and longer-term systems while balancing impact, urgency, cost, risk, and maintenance burden - Building working prototypes, automations, lightweight applications, and integrations using code, APIs, AI-assisted development tools, and low-code platforms - Partnering with engineers to move solutions from prototype to production, making pragmatic decisions about architecture, data flows, permissions, and build-versus-buy tradeoffs - Creating reusable capabilities so each new internal tool is easier to build, deploy, and operate - Working full-time onsite in the Los Angeles office with occasional travel to other CHAOS offices CHAOS is headquartered in Los Angeles with offices in Washington D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and London. The company has 350+ employees and is well-funded with a strong investor base. **Requirements:** - 4+ years in product management delivering software products or internal tools in high-ambiguity environments - Software engineering background with meaningful hands-on coding experience and strong working knowledge of modern web applications, APIs, data models, integrations, authentication, permissions, and software architecture - Equally comfortable interviewing business teams about workflows and opening an IDE to test solutions - Strong product judgment with focus on underlying problems rather than requested features - Ability to thrive in high-autonomy, ambiguous environments and move from discovery to working solution without perfect requirements - Judgment about when to prototype quickly, when to invest in durable infrastructure, and when not to build software at all - Ability to earn credibility with engineers through technical depth and with business teams through pragmatism, communication, and follow-through - Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous business problems from discovery through implementation and adoption across multiple functions, clients, or domains - Fluency with modern AI development workflows and tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, or similar) to materially accelerate prototyping and software development **Preferred:** - Experience in a design-build software consultancy, internal-tools or enterprise-platform team, or forward-deployed engineering organization - Familiarity with systems such as ERP, CRM, QMS, manufacturing, or data platforms
