Rippling is seeking a Product Lead to own the Accounting Platform, a critical component of its unified HR, IT, and Finance system. The role spans two major mandates: building accounting infrastructure and ERP integrations to serve larger, more complex customers, and defining the future of the accounting product through AI-powered workflows that automate the close process.
Rippling occupies a unique position between systems where business activity originates and ERPs where official books live. This vantage point enables automation of work accountants currently perform manually—from transaction validation before reaching the general ledger to reconciliation and period-end adjustments. Over time, the platform can expand beyond supporting existing products to become a standalone accounting close experience.
Key responsibilities include owning the product vision and roadmap for the Accounting Platform; building a world-class accounting experience across Finance and Payroll products; developing AI-powered workflows to keep customer books complete and current; automating core close processes such as transaction validation, reconciliation, and period-end adjustments; building platform capabilities for complex ERP environments and larger customers; improving reliability and scalability of financial data movement into customers' general ledgers; collaborating with Finance, Payroll, Procurement, and Data teams on shared accounting capabilities; spending significant time with controllers and accounting teams to understand workflows and identify automation opportunities; partnering closely with Engineering and Design from discovery through launch; and defining clear measures of customer and business impact to guide roadmap prioritization.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of product management experience, ideally on complex B2B software
- Strong product judgment and ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear strategy
- Experience building technically complex products dependent on integrations, data models, or platform infrastructure
- Strong understanding of accounting workflows and financial systems businesses use
- Ability to work closely with engineers on complex system and data problems
- Strong customer instincts and willingness to learn detailed accounting workflows firsthand
- High ownership; comfort setting direction and making decisions in fast-moving environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience building accounting, ERP, fintech, or financial operations products
- Familiarity with NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or Microsoft Dynamics
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliation, transaction coding, or financial integrations
- Experience building AI agents or AI-powered workflow products
- Experience building products for controllers, accountants, or enterprise finance teams
