As Director of Product Finance, you will own the accounting, reconciliation, and financial governance layer at the heart of Airwallex's core product suite, covering payments, issuing, acquiring, FX, intercompany flows, and wallet infrastructure. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role at the intersection of finance, product, and technology.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drive AI adoption and automation in reconciliation operations, moving from manual processes to scalable, technology-first financial operations across cash, intercompany, AR, and treasury.
- Own product accounting for all fund flows, payment clearing, issuing revenue, acquiring settlements, rebate netting, FX revaluation, and intercompany rebalancing. Ensure consistent application across entities and alignment with US GAAP standards.
- Lead the reconciliation and financial operations team toward T+3 close standards and measurable reduction in open breaks.
- Own fee governance and revenue integrity, signing off on accounting treatment for all new fee types and revenue models with structured governance and audit trails.
- Design and build a scalable cost engine supporting cost accruals and reconciliation, defining cost drivers, allocation logic, and calculation methodologies.
- Provide financial risk monitoring metrics to the financial risk committee on AR balances and credit risk exposures.
- Reconcile and improve Financial Reporting and Management Reporting topline figures, driving initiatives to bridge gaps.
- Partner early with Product, Engineering, and Legal on new launches and fund flow redesigns to ensure finance requirements are built in from the start.
- Support operationalization of a new FX Hub and intercompany structures, leading accounting design for back-to-back hedge arrangements.
- Maintain accountability for ledger data quality underpinning reconciliation and drive resolution of structural data issues.
You bring 10+ years of progressive finance experience with meaningful exposure to payments, fintech, or financial infrastructure. Product finance, technical accounting, or financial operations leadership experience is strongly preferred. A Master's in Accounting/Finance and CA/CPA certification are preferred. You have a builder's mindset with genuine interest in AI and automation, comfort with data concepts and SQL, and demonstrated ability to work with Engineering and Product teams to solve finance problems through technology.
