Sesame is building a new kind of computer interface centered on voice agents that feel natural and human. The company brings together founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6, alongside leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple, with deep expertise in hardware and software. As Product Engineering Lead, you will lead a team of engineers building Sesame's personal agents (like Maya) that hold natural conversations and make devices more useful. This is a hands-on leadership role where you drive outcomes and ship products people love, not a supervisory position focused on tracking progress. Key responsibilities include: - Driving team outcomes and shipping products with accountability for results - Staying hands-on with prototyping, bug fixing, de-risking projects, and improving engineer productivity - Owning the quality bar for products serving millions: reliability, security, performance, and polish - Growing engineers through clear feedback and creating opportunities for their best work - Building a talented, diverse engineering team through hiring - Partnering closely with product and design teams - Setting technical direction and making architectural decisions for the product stack You'll need 10+ years as a software engineer with 5+ years managing a team of 5+ engineers. Full-stack product engineering expertise in scalable web infrastructure is essential—you should have built products on distributed systems serving millions and understand reliability engineering at scale. You must have strong product taste and judgment about what makes products feel great. You're a software engineer at heart who cares deeply about secure, reliable, well-crafted software. You've shipped a product zero-to-one or been a core engineer on a transformative industry-setting project. Preferred qualifications include AI product experience, consumer hardware software experience, and familiarity with Python, TypeScript, GCP, and Kubernetes.
