HUD is building infrastructure for reinforcement learning training data, evaluations, and a marketplace connecting frontier AI labs with environment creators. The company has raised $16M from top VCs, was part of Y Combinator W25, and serves frontier labs, Fortune 500 companies, and startups.
As a Product Engineer, you will bridge product, design, and engineering to solve cross-cutting problems across HUD's platform and marketplace. You'll work directly with environment creators and research teams to identify friction points in creating, testing, evaluating, and discovering RL environments, then ship solutions end-to-end.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting user research and internal conversations to identify friction in environment creation, testing, evaluation, and discovery workflows; translating findings into product priorities
- Designing, prototyping, and shipping product improvements across the platform and marketplace, owning work from problem definition through launch and iteration
- Making agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback more understandable and actionable through thoughtful interfaces and workflows
- Building frontend and backend components to improve vendor onboarding, environment submission, review, and discovery for research teams
- Using user feedback and product signals to assess effectiveness, refine experiences, and inform product and engineering tradeoffs
This role combines product judgment, interaction design, and full-stack engineering. You'll move from user conversations and early prototypes to production software, making technically dense workflows clear and useful without sacrificing necessary detail.
The team is ~25 people, mostly full-time in-person but with some remote flexibility. The team includes 4 International Olympiad medalists, serial AI startup founders, and researchers with publications at top conferences (ICLR, NeurIPS). The company has 8 figures in funding and is scaling profitably with strong demand.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Record of shipping software products end-to-end, from understanding user problems through implementation and iteration
- Strong product judgment: ability to identify the problem behind a request, set useful scope, and make sound tradeoffs with incomplete information
- Interaction design skills with a high bar for clarity and usability in complex, technical workflows
- Full-stack engineering ability, including building polished web interfaces and supporting backend services or APIs
- Comfort talking directly with users and using qualitative feedback and product data to improve shipped work
- Clear communication and ability to work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, and cross-functional partners
STRONG ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Developer tools, data-rich products, marketplaces, or products serving distinct user groups
- Familiarity with AI agents, evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data
- Designing workflows for review, debugging, quality feedback, or complex operational work
- Finding and owning product gaps in growing, cross-functional teams
The company prioritizes technical aptitude and learning potential over years of experience. Full-time role with visa sponsorship available for relocation to US or Singapore.
