ecoplanet provides energy management software for German industrial manufacturers in plastics, metals, and food production. The platform covers meter data, consumption monitoring, efficiency analysis, compliance, and energy procurement. You'll be the sole designer on the Energy Insights team, which owns the core entry product: 24/7 consumption monitoring, alerting, and insights that turn load profiles into actionable decisions. You'll own design end-to-end for this product: research, user flows, interaction design, and polished UI. Your responsibilities include redesigning existing features (customer cockpit, monitoring views, alerts, findings) to help energy managers move quickly from problem detection to action; designing data-dense interfaces (load profiles, consumption breakdowns, anomalies) that remain readable for non-analysts; shaping onboarding and labelling flows that help customers describe their meters and production; designing internal tools for customer success and onboarding teams; conducting regular customer research and translating insights into design decisions; and building a pragmatic design system aligned with the team's shipping cadence. You'll work directly with a PM, engineers, and the customer success team. Much of the work involves improving and reshaping existing features to make them clearer and more useful, alongside designing new capabilities. As the sole designer, you'll set your own process, make decisions independently, and have direct visibility into how your work impacts customers and the business. The team is small, senior-leaning, with flat hierarchy and short decision paths. You'll have close access to customers and engineers, seeing the direct consequences of your design decisions. As the product and team grow, you'll have the option to shape how the design function scales. REQUIREMENTS: - B2B product design experience: you've designed complex software for professional users, not only consumer apps - Portfolio demonstrating data-heavy, workflow-driven product work with clear reasoning - Comfort working as a solo designer: you set your own process, make calls without waiting for sign-off, and know when "good enough to learn from" beats "perfect" - Early-stage mindset: priorities shift as you learn, and you treat ambiguity as something to work through - Strong interaction and visual design skills; fluent in Figma - Willingness to talk to users directly and bring evidence into design discussions - Clear communication in English; German at professional working level (required to understand customer feedback directly) NICE TO HAVE: - Experience with industrial, manufacturing, energy, IoT, or operational software - Familiarity with time-series data, dashboards, monitoring and alerting products - Some front-end understanding to work closely with engineers on feasibility and detail
