Hera is building a new profession in healthcare: the Hero, a dedicated senior care expert who educates, coordinates, and advocates for families navigating complex healthcare decisions. The company has raised $34M from Accel and Bain Capital Ventures, partnered with leading health systems (Weill Cornell, NYU Langone, UCSF, USC, Mount Sinai), and 10x'd revenue organically over six months. Clinical leaders from top institutions serve as advisors.
As Senior Product Designer for Family Experience, you'll be the second designer on the founding team, reporting to Head of Design Ellen. You'll own the end-to-end family product experience across three core areas:
1. **0→1 Family Product**: Design the interface where families first encounter Hera during their most vulnerable moments—discharge, diagnosis, falls. This product doesn't yet exist. You'll shape it as human-agent interaction modalities are being reinvented in real time, moving beyond traditional dashboards to discover what works for an 82-year-old and their adult child.
2. **Hera Platform Workflows**: Own family-related workflows on the internal platform used by Heroes and care teams, including patient onboarding and family-facing coordination tools that connect directly to the family experience.
3. **Design System & Craft Standards**: Help evolve design systems and quality standards that maintain the brand promise as the company scales.
You'll work closely with engineering to ensure shipped products match intended design, build reusable systems rather than one-offs, and set the bar for visual judgment, interaction design, copy, and polish. The role requires comfort working in modern codebases and strong partnership with product and engineering teams.
Ideal candidates have shipped high-craft products in high-stakes contexts (healthcare, finance, caregiving), built or meaningfully expanded design systems, and thrive in fast-moving, product-led environments. You can take ambiguous problems, find the sharp edge, and move outcomes without a dedicated PM. Based in NYC or willing to relocate; in-person collaboration is core to the founding team.
