Assembled is a unified platform that orchestrates human agents and AI at scale for customer support operations. Used by companies like Canva, Etsy, and Robinhood, the platform coordinates in-house agents, BPOs, and AI in a single operating system with AI agents that resolve cases end-to-end, AI copilot for agent assistance, and AI-powered workforce management.
You will lead the next generation of Assembled's design system, defining the visual and interaction foundations that enable every product team to ship cohesive, accessible, high-quality experiences. This role combines visual craft with systems thinking to establish reusable patterns, components, and design language across the platform.
Key responsibilities include: leading the design system's evolution by defining visual language, interaction foundations, and governance; establishing reusable interaction patterns for AI-native products that help users direct, trust, review, and collaborate with AI agents; pioneering AI-assisted design workflows in partnership with the Design Systems Engineer to generate production-quality UI and measure adoption; extending the system by partnering with product teams to solve complex enterprise workflows and turn solutions into reusable patterns; and enabling other designers by creating approachable systems with clear documentation.
You'll work closely with frontend engineers on component APIs, responsive behavior, accessibility, and implementation tradeoffs. You have hands-on experience structuring Figma libraries, tokens, variables, and components for multi-team use. You balance simplicity with flexibility as the product grows, think in primitives and reusable patterns, and are biased toward shipping with real user feedback rather than perfecting in isolation.
This is a full-time, onsite role based in the San Francisco office, five days a week (Monday–Friday). The role offers an opportunity to help define what design systems look like in AI-native products and to pioneer new workflows that blend human design expertise with AI-assisted tooling.
