Counsel Health is building an AI-native medical group that reimagines healthcare delivery through technology. Founded in 2023 and backed by a16z, Google Ventures, and Pear VC, the company has raised over $35M and is on track to serve hundreds of thousands of patients. The founding team combines deep medical expertise (Harvard, Mt. Sinai, Mass General, UCSF) with technology talent from MIT, Google, DeepMind, NVIDIA, Stripe, and Meta.
As a Product Designer, you will define the consumer healthcare experience end-to-end—from a patient's first question through advice, prescriptions, labs, referrals, and follow-ups across mobile and web. You'll set the visual, interaction, and motion standards that make healthcare feel trustworthy, considered, and alive—holding it to the consumer bar rather than institutional norms.
Key responsibilities include: shaping the core patient experience across all touchpoints; establishing and raising the bar for visual, interaction, and motion craft through micro-interactions and transitions; translating complex healthcare realities into simple, intuitive experiences; rapidly prototyping and iterating on 0→1 experiences; building and evolving the product design system as the team scales; and collaborating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and clinical teams.
You should have 3+ years of consumer-focused product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual design. You're an early adopter of modern design tools (Claude, Paper, Remotion) and AI-native in your workflow. You're technical enough to prototype in code and collaborate deeply with engineers. You care about creating positive health outcomes and can navigate ambiguity with confidence. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across functions are essential.
The role offers significant ownership and growth opportunities within a rapidly scaling startup, direct interface with executives at leading tech and healthcare organizations, competitive salary plus equity, and comprehensive benefits including healthcare, vision, dental, 401K, unlimited PTO, and parental leave.
