Verse Medical is a Series C healthtech company (backed by General Catalyst, SignalFire, and Sapphire Ventures) building modern software infrastructure to coordinate care for patients at home. The healthcare industry still relies on outdated systems like faxes and phone tags; Verse is replacing that with a platform connecting providers, payors, and patients to deliver hospital-quality care reliably and at home.
You'll join a product design team of three designers working as partners with engineering and product. Design has a seat at the table from the first conversation about a problem—no handoffs at the end. The company keeps bureaucracy low: no layers of approval between you and shipping, and the distance between a good idea and a live product is measured in days.
In your first year, you will own the end-to-end design of high-priority product areas, from early discovery and workflow mapping through high-fidelity design and shipped product. You'll design intricate, logic-heavy interfaces (like clinical order flows) that turn dense, multi-step workflows into beautiful experiences users describe as effortless. You'll raise the craft bar across the product by sweating the details of typography, spacing, motion, and interaction states. You'll build and evolve the design system so quality scales with the team. You'll prototype quickly and at high fidelity to pressure-test ideas face-to-face with real users. You'll develop deep empathy for clinicians, coordinators, and patients through direct research, translating insights into opinionated design decisions. You'll partner closely with engineers through implementation, ensuring what ships matches what was designed.
The company values transparency, speed of iteration, focused intensity balanced by sustainable pace, and deep empathy with customers. Healthcare is the most under-designed industry in America, and the one that needs great design the most. The software clinicians use every day looks and feels a decade behind the tools they use in the rest of their lives.
Work Environment: This role is based in the New York City office in Chelsea with a hybrid model requiring 4 days per week in the office to foster collaboration and innovation. The company does not offer visa sponsorship; all candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
