MaintainX, now part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, is a mobile-first work execution platform serving industrial and frontline teams. The company powers operations for 13,000+ customers including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL, and Volvo, managing 13.9 million assets and 79.5 million completed work orders. Autodesk's strategy is to converge design, make, and operate into one continuous lifecycle—and MaintainX leads the "operate" phase.
You will lead a team of 4–6 product designers, setting creative direction and ensuring design quality across web and mobile products. Your responsibilities include:
- Own design quality across your team's product areas. Guide designers through ambiguity, conduct sharp design reviews, and ensure work is grounded in real user needs and built to a high standard.
- Lead and grow a team of product designers. Run 1:1s, drive career development, deliver clear feedback, and build a team culture where people do their best work. You'll own hiring, performance management, and talent development.
- Translate product strategy into focused design execution. Help your team understand not just what they're building, but why it matters. Set clear, directional vision rooted in customer understanding and business context.
- Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineering leads. Align on priorities, unblock delivery, and advocate for design quality and user needs.
- Raise the craft bar. Contribute to design critiques, invest in the design system, and ensure consistency across experiences your team touches.
- Lead your team in adopting AI tools and practices to accelerate design work and improve quality and speed.
Your users are maintenance technicians, reliability engineers, and operations managers working on factory floors, in processing plants, and across distributed facilities. You'll be close to the work, close to the people, and accountable for outcomes.
**Requirements:**
- 6+ years of product design experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise platforms. You've shipped complex, multi-surface work and understand what good looks like.
- 1–3 years of experience managing product designers. You've run 1:1s, given feedback that changes work, navigated performance conversations, and helped people grow.
- Strong product thinking and craft judgment. You understand customer problems, business tradeoffs, and how to connect design work to strategy.
- You build trust through consistency, directness, and accountability. You create clarity for your team, resolve friction with partners early, and lead with confidence and humility.
- You care about AI-powered product experiences—both designing for AI-first workflows and using AI tools to improve your team's work.
- Expert-level English (spoken and written) required for leading across multiple teams, presenting to executives, and aligning with engineering leaders.
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience with frontline, mobile-first, or offline-capable product design.
- Background in industrial, operations, or maintenance-adjacent domains.
- Experience contributing to or scaling a design system.
- Familiarity with designing for AI-powered workflows and data-rich interfaces.
